We are in Montmorillon and have a transparent
Green glass bowl for use on bathroom vanity,
Size 42cm diameter. It's still in the box we couldn't
use it as needed to purchase smaller one.
Builder had opened box so we are unable to
return. We paid 49 euros last week so
Make us an offer if you can use it. Anything
considered.
Cheers Rosie and Huw

It's in very good condition can be used with wood or coal, comes with fittings and various white chimney pipes. I could possibly help with delivery for a drink but you would need some muscle, please post here, send me a PM, if interested.

Noticed tyre on my 4x4 was looking a bit low the other day and pumped it up, unfortunately whilst in Montmorillon yesterday it had gone down again. So I headed up to Norauto and asked if the could have a look, I had used them last year to fit my tyres I purchased on-line and they were very helpful then. Car Tyres In France
No problem he said and took it straight in, and said it could be repaired for €26.90. Within 15 minutes he handed me the offending item (a piece of rusty old wire fence) and I was back on the road.

Hi All,
My last visit to the forum was rather rushed, so I apologise for not being back since. I now have a bit of time around working to provide you with some more information about the association Les Dames de FER. I am the group coordinator for the Montmorillon area and we are looking for any women who are in business who are looking for some support, or who would like to learn new skills, or have skills which could benefit our members.
Here is the blurb from the website:
Our association aims to create a social network, training and coaching for self employed women or in process of setting up a business, in a rural environment in France. To encourage women to set up their own business, to help existing businesses to develop, to network with other women and to improve language skills.
Les Dames de F.E.R. anticipates having several meetings each year, which will include business workshops, guest speakers, social and networking events.
We are holding our next event on Tuesday 13th May in the morning (venue TBC), and hopefully there will be an option to stay for lunch afterwards. This is open to members and non-members and will be a chance to network and tell everyone about your business, and for you to learn about other businesses in the area. Of course the meeting is only open to women.
If you or you know of anyone who would be interested, please do get in touch with me by email (or PM on here) so I can add you to the mailing list for future events, and if you'd like any further information. My email is
As we are installing a new bathroom we
have the old fittings out and ready to go
to be picked up if anybody can use them.
All are white and in good order just a little
Old fashioned. Pedestal basin and taps, basic
Flush toilet, bidet, old style bath 140cm x 65
All free just need to be picked up from
Montmorillon.
We know there are places to buy new mattresses
in and around Poitiers but is there anywhere
In or closer to Montmorillon that sells new
mattress and base sets. The delivery charges
from Poitiers are huge. We need to purchase
two queen size beds.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks Rosie and Huw
I wonder if anyone can help? I have been asked by a guest the cost of a taxi from us [La Brasserie] to a wedding in Montmorillon. I have never needed a taxi before, so any ideas. The other thing is the wedding is in July and obviously a Saturday, so I presume a more difficult time to find one. All feedback will be appreciated.
We have seen lots of posters about to advertise
Montmorillon Carnivale on Sat 15 March.
Does anybody know what time it kicks off?
Also where is the best vantage point. We also
saw signs to say some streets will be closed off.
The lady at the tourist Info is lovely but
speaks only a little English and as we are
new comers with little French it's hard to get information.
Thanks Rosie

align=center]All Sold.
I have a nice selection of old French beds for sale they are all the same size around 1.9m Long x 1.3m Wide. There are 5 in total and come with mattresses.
I can help you with delivery (for a drink) as I have a trailer, if you're interested in one, more or all please post here, send me a PM, or post here.
The mattresses are in good condition and will be given to the purchaser on first come first served basis, so to get the best one get in first.
*Please click the images to see full size.
This one has to be the best as it has it's own sprung base, and is a lovely Sleigh or Boat Bed with small wheels for easy moving. It's got to be worth €200 do you think ?
This is the underneath.
This one has now been sold!
Another nice Sleigh or Boat Bed, but this one has the metal base like in bed number 5. €175
This one has now been sold!
Bed number 3 has the same base as the last one and although it's made of metal, it has a wood look to it. Don't ask me why it's metal made to look like wood, I don't know. But there is no rust. Must be worth €100
This one has now been sold!
Bed number 4 again has the same base as number 5, but this one has a metal frame and wooden head & base board which have been carved. €100
This one has now been sold!
The other beds all have the same type of adjustable metal base that looks a bit like chainmaille as in this photo of the least attractive one Bed number 5.
What's this one worth then €50 ?
This one has now been sold!
Remember they all come with a mattress of your choice, and I can help with delivery if needed. I've got a rough idea of the prices from others for sale on the internet, and will sell one or all as a job lot if you want to make an offer.
Reason for selling: We have enough King size beds of our own and one is hand made so we will be using those, these ones will be taken apart and put in storage till sold which I'm sure they will especially if taken back to the UK.
They have all been looked after well, and there are also some pillows and covers if you want them. (Even a nice Red Candelwick one) Oh those were the days. Night Night.

WARNING!
I have been told that his works very well, and throws out a lot of heat after charging overnight. But I have not checked it myself so cant vouch for that and would recommend you get it checked out by a professional. Also as I'm giving it away you take it as seen with no come back should you blow up
Click photo to enlarge.
1:25 Long
.35 Wide
.70 High
Maker: Applimo
There are two plugs on, and one is huge with lot's of pins. There are buttons for Temp, Charge, Fans.
It's VERY heavy and although I could help you move it with my trailer (for a drink), I'm not as fit as I was so you would need to bring some help with you.
Eventually it will go up the tip when I get around to it, if you want to take it post here, send me a PM
EDIT: This has now been destroyed to make it easier to move and will be going to the tip.

Just thought I would share this with you in case you're fed up with your French Bank as I was.
A couple of years ago we got fed up to the teeth with our French Bank and decided to go elsewhere, so we had a look around and decided to give La Banque Postale in Montmorillon a chance as we thought they couldn't be any worse.
Well after being with them for just over two years I can confidently say they are excellent, yes you still pay for an account (this is France after all) but we can not fault them. And last week we was even more happy with them as we had an appointment with Monsieur Yohann PRODHOMME and he has just saved us well over €200 per year on our car and house insurance.
La Banque Postale have certainly upped there game in my opinion, and Monsieur Prodhomme speaks very good English and is very helpful without being too pushy. Yes he did ask if he could quote for our insurances and I'm glad we said yes, but when he tried to ask about Mobile Phone and I told him he couldn't beat Leclerc at €1.50 a month he said ok we will leave that then.

Has anyone done the new French driving licence ?
My old UK one is about to run out and I was wondering if anyone had changed to the new French card ones, Mrs Fred had done the old one a few years ago but they are no longer available and apparently it's all changed.

I've just been going around the garden to see what spring flowers were popping up as the sun was out, and found lot's of daffodils and snow drops appearing. But I just got a huge surprise when I notice what look like two Daffodils growing out of one of our little Oak trees.
And if you're wondering about this being set up, I can assure you it's not. We have never put daffodil or any bulbs in a tree, and they are well rooted. The only way I can think of how they got there would be that some animal like a squirrel maybe has dug them up from the ground and hid them there, but they are not very well hidden so I just don't know how it happened.
We've got an interesting manifestation of the stuff on a interior wall due, I'm sure, to our rather "damp" autumn and winter.
Many "helpful" folk have told me the deeply unattractive splodge is dangerous for reasons too numerous to bore you with. Therefore, IF it is dangerous, is there a proper way to remove the stuff without killing myself? O should I just let Madame Admiral loose with a paint scraper?
