I'd love to see more contributors here on Around Montmorillon and wondered if anyone had any suggestions for new topics or categories they would like to see included?

Hello all,
Our 'new' (old) house does not have any form of sewerage and we have been exploring the idea of using some sort of reed bed system instead of a septic tank.
Does anyone know what the French regulations are for these sorts of alternative systems? and if they are more (or less) environmentally friendly than a traditional septic tank?
We have a garden to accommodate either, I'm not sure about the slope of the land at the moment.
Given that we are starting from scratch we quite like the idea of keeping it all as low impact as possible (within reason)

I have received a Panasonic breadmaker as a gift. As I already have one, it's of no use to me.
It's the SD-B2510 - full details here. (That's actually the Panasonic UK website but it's the same machine, apart from the fact that mine has a French plug rather than a UK one.)
The box has been opened but the breadmaker has never been removed and is still in its original protective wraps and packaging.
The typical price is 150€ and the lowest I have found (in-store or online) is 138.99€. Make me an offer - highest wins
As long as you're within an hour or so drive of Montmorillon I'll deliver it myself. If you're further afield, get in touch!
Hi. As with many others, we are back in Montmorrillon after an extended Covid-induced absence. The garden has gone nuts. Is there anyone who is able to help with bramble and weed clearance, and transportation of the green waste to dechet? I would also like some hard landscaping laid to reduce weeds in the future! Any recomendations are gratefully received.
Does anyone know a shop in Montmorillon that sells filters for Brita water jugs please.Couldn't find them in Lidl(where we bought the jug ans spare filters),Leclerc or SuperU.I know we can buy online but would be handy to be able to buy off the shelf. Thanks in advance.
Any car electricians around? I almost certainly have a wire or two loose on the car/trailer. Everthing works if I move the plug and socket slightly while stationary but the connection doesn't survive the bumps and vibrations of travelling. I can leave the trailer behind for attention but the car needs to be done while I'm there [I don't have a garage full of spare cars !]. Instant payment. I'm 10km east of Montmorillon. Cheers Peter

I have finally unloaded 40 cardboard boxes [60x30x45] which held hundreds of books, so have lotsa cardboard boxes that need a home. Vast majority reusable, about four or five need some tape to strengthen the "push in" handles on each side. Boxes still made up, not flattened, There are also around ten of different, larger sizes. Anyone want them? They're in St Léomer, between Montmorillon and Trimouille.

To One and All Who Viewed and/or Commented on our Miss Honey: I have very good news.
The Divine Miss H will join us after all in our new home in Ireland. She will have a ferry (and furry) adventure with a pet courier and spend a few days in a lovely cattery in County Kerry and then we reunite after our own arrival.
Honey will not have the big garden and fields she has enjoyed since she joined our family but, adaptable creature that she is, I know she will win over our new neighbours with her sweet nature.

I'm looking for a recommendation for a reliable and trustworthy (preferably English speaking) joiner to quote for the inspection and repair/replacement of joists under our living room floor.
I am shifting my small but perfectly formed body from Gers to Saint Léomer on March 11 [date for signing the vente authentique].
As soon as I arrive I will be looking for a round kitchen table [not enormous] with chairs, a couple of spare beds for upstairs, and one or two bed settees. So will be very happy to see piccies and prices on those items please.
Ciao for now and see you very sooooon
Peter
PS Bogey my lovable Labrador will also be saying hello to everyone and looking for four legged friends
We are moving late spring/early summer of this year and, sadly, unable to take our dear 11-year-old cat. She is female, tri-colour, chipped, spayed and has up-to-date vaccines.
Miss Honey is a combo of house and outdoor cat and is quite happy to sleep most of the day (with snack breaks) and share the sofa at evening TV time on her special blanket. She loves Perry Mason and film noir. In fact, she's quite the 'people person' and loves visitors and detects cat-lovers immediately. It will be 10 years ago this April that she appeared in our garden, meowed, followed me home and has been a true friend ever since.
We have come to terms about having to part with her and so looking for a home where she will be well-loved.
If any forum readers are interested or know someone who would be, please email me. And thank you...
Hi we are looking for anyone who restores external doors ( stripping, re staining, a new weatherboard and new door furniture)
