It's September 11th today and the start of the hunting season for La Chasse.
If you're out for a walk look out for the signs of La Chasse. Their operations are usually very obvious with signs, high-viz vests and sounds of gunfire, but every year stray gunfire causes injuries or death. It's worth keeping your wits about you when it in the countryside.

Hi, I am looking for either a company or carpenter that can install a ready made garage door or build and install one.
We are moving permanently to this area and would ideally like to secure our garage asap.
Any help or advice greatly appreciated

We're lucky in Montmorillon that there are a great number of clubs, associations and activities with which to get involved. But how do you discover them?
The easy answer is at the Forum des Associations.
This annual event is a showcase for over 120 societies in Montmorilon and the surrounding area. Each club has a stall and people to explain more - and sign you up if you like!
This year's event is at the Espace Gartempe on 16, Boulevard du Terrier Blanc on Sunday 4th September. Doors open at 09:00, and access is free and doesn't require pre-booking - just turn up. See you there?
There's a Facebook page but it doesn't tell you much more that I've already said
Does anyone know where I can find a qualified installer to fit a log burner in my house in Montmorillon? They would need to speak English as my French is not up to technical discussion.

I had a letter from Linky SRD today informing me that Soregies (my electrical supplier) has decided it's time for my property to move to the 21st Century with a Linky meter. It's not going to help me very much, I suspect, as I submit my readings to Soregies for each bill and have power usage meters on devices that I know can prove expensive, but I don't seem to have a choice!
Does anyone have any experience with Linky meters that they could share, whether reassuring or terrifying? I can cope...

I have 40 cardboard cartons I used to move my books from Gers. All but around five in good condition and reusable. Still made up as boxes. I haven't flattened them.
There are also three jumbo coxes that contained a bedsettee from IKEA. As new.
Its been a while but finally having a breather from diy and the never ending bureacracy. Looking to get away but require a boarding kennels for the dog. Any recommendations ?

Good morning all,
If you were, like me, greeted by a faint haze in the air and a whiff of smoke when you went outside today, don't be alarmed.
The wind is now coming from the south west so is blowing the smoke from the Gironde forest fires (South of Bordeaux) in our direction. If tonight's promised rain arrives on schedule, everything should be clear and fresh again tomorrow.
Anyone know of a good small garage in and around Montmorillon that does all makes. I do not want a main dealer just a good small garage A little English would help but not too much of a problem. Thank you.
Myself Andrea, and my partner Andy have recently bought a holiday home in Montmorillon. We are returning this week for our second prolonged visit after an eventful first visit in April which flew by sorting out utilities etc. (We had no hot water for the first 5 days). We love browsing in brocantes and markets for furniture to fill our new home. Our French is poor but we are keen to learn so if anyone knows of any groups practicing French we'd love to hear about them.
