As above you will see we had bathroom
Fittings. Vanity toilet bath etc to give free
to a new home. For anybody thinking of using
this site to sell or give items away we can say
it's been a very easy and rewarding experience
for us!
Not only did we make space and pass all our
old bathroom fittings to a new home we
also enjoyed meeting Fred and his wife
and swapping some stories!
All went like clockwork thanks Around Montmorillon!
best wishes
Rosie and Huw

Thank you for the feedback.

Unfortunately it's a catch 22 situation. Posts slow down because no one answers or there are not enough people answering, if no one answers people stop asking. To make a forum work it needs people to post, so if people such as yourself keep away because posts have slowed down then people won't post as they know no one is reading their posts. (If you see what I mean)

It needs people to post, and it needs people to read. So it's down to all members to visit often and make posts either asking or answering, the more posts we have the more people will come to read. The more people that come to read, the more they will start to post.

So don't stay away because post are slowing down, do what you have done today and make some posts for others to read and you will see people arriving and hopefully making more posts for you to read.

That made my head hurt Smile

Mmmm. Confused you are right Fred that is very true of any forum if members fail to post or return it will go downhill, so it's up to all us members to post more, to keep the forum vibrant

Yep you have hit the nail on the head Jim. If it gets posts it keeps going, if it gets little or no posts then I have to start thinking is it worth it.

I'm happy to give it another year as I mentioned here: [Invalid Thread ID] But Around Montmorillon is not my priority. I'm happy to pay for the hosting and to run it but I'm not and never was an active member of Around Montmorillon myself, I chip in as and when I can to try and stimulate interest as do a few other members but I just need to know it's being used for me to keep an interest in it.

So yes it's up to the members to make a few posts now and then to keep it active. It's safe from going to the wall like it was before every month due to lack of posts. I'm not running it for any reason other than I think it is a valuable source of local information, but even I have to look at it each year and weigh up if it's worth it.

So as far as I'm concerned post and it stays, stop posting and it goes. It doesn't need and due to it's nature won't get 100s of posts each month but it does need a few each month to keep it active if not people go away like Tersu said in her post above and it's gone.

Just to chip in and add to the traffic...

I really like Around Montmorillon, and Fred deserves (at least) 3 cheers - and possibly a couple of cases of red and a wheelbarrow of cheese.

I like the fact that it's so supportive, with none of the daft flouncing and pouncing that infests so many online communities.

Having said that, I'm surprised it's not busier.
But would we like it to be busier?
If so, what about a new thread to collect promotional ideas, in which people make suggestions about how to spread the word to all and sundry?

Thank you for the kind words Brian, Merlot and Brie will be fine.  Big Grin

I'm just happy to see people using it, I don't use it much myself as I'm not allowed out often. Good question Do we need more? We are getting some good members lately and it's a lot better than it was a few years ago, but most of that is down to those that are still around and try hard to keep it active. Admiral, Clubby, Curryman, and Chris where amongst those that said they wanted Around Montmorillon to keep going and to this day they still pop in often, so it's them and the newbies that have started posting that we need to thank. You yourself are often popping in so maybe you deserve the wine and cheese....................... Maybe we should have wine and cheese for everyone that makes 1 post per week.  Smile

We don't want more as in just numbers that would just create spam or the "daft flouncing and pouncing" ones you talk of , but we do want more of the type of people we have been getting. We need people asking and answering, or just people sharing and talking about their experiences.

As for people making suggestions I'm always willing to listen to feedback and members are welcome to start threads here Feedback or contact me. I'm not always here, but I will get back to you as soon as possible.

We also have the Support Around Montmorillon board with a couple of ideas, and again members are welcome to add more if they wish.

Right I'm off for some Merlot and Brie.

Keep up the good work everyone, you're all doing very well. (Oooooh I felt just like Mr Grace then)   wave
