Yes, it's me again, that annoying person with all the questions   Just wondering where would be the best place around the Montmorillon area, within maybe a radius of an hour's drive away, to purchase wardrobes in particular. I'm deliberating whether or not to bring them from the UK, but I am open to suggestions of the best places to shop in the area. 
I do quite like painting up old furniture, so not afraid to do that. Prefer the old stuff to brand new. Thank you.

Re Wardrobes. I'm with Clubby Emmaus at Poitiers has a very large selection of old furniture and at reasonable prices. https://emmaus-france.org/

Troc at Limoges have a good selection of second hand furniture but may be a bit more expensive. https://www.troc.com/fr/

Bon Coin may be worth a try but the last few years I've found they don't have so many good ads as they used to in my opinion https://www.leboncoin.fr/

Thanks for all of the info. I shall definitely be checking those out when we are ready to furnish more. Hell of a lot of decorating and adjustments to sort first, but we are already coming over in what will be a packed full furniture van in November. 
Did you find yourselves buying much in the way of furniture over there?

There's a useful selection of furniture including wardrobes at the depôt de vente in Lussac les Châteaux. It's in Rue des Piniers, which is close the the Intermarche/Bricomarche site in the middle of town. I think it's open every afternoon except Monday and some mornings (but I can't remember which). They can deliver for 20 - 30€ depending on your location. Happy hunting!

Did you find yourselves buying much in the way of furniture over there?

No not much apart from a bed for visitors. Tip: bring a British bed or at least a good mattress if you can the French ones are rubbish, and not that easy to find a good choice.

We were lucky in that the house we are in now still had all the old furniture in it, all solid wood and very old but excellent quality. Not to everyone's taste these days but give me old hand made oak any day over machine made MDF.

We are going to be bringing beds and mattresses over. How I wish our house had had some fantastic old furniture in it, but we haven't been that lucky. There is absolutely nothing in either the house, or the annexe cottage. 
We prefer the old furniture too, so I'm with you on that one. I've been trawling the antique and second hand shops over here already.
