We are hoping to get our move to Montmorillon in motion for mid-late October. Just wondered if anyone has any recommendations for a removal company in the NE of England that they have used for a move to France.
Also - any recommendations as to the best route over the Channel when travelling with dogs for stopping off / ferry v tunnel etc
Can anyone please tell me how Leclerc points work ?
Went to desk & I thought they had converted my 404 points to cash
discount available on my card.
Now - points have been cleared , but no discount added ?
Just a quick question,is there anywhere around the Montmorillon region that sells spices etc as our supplies are running low? Thanks in advance for any pointers Clive

My favourite pharmacy in France is on the move.
It's the pharmacy in Adriers where my chums M. Jean and Mme Melena practice their dark arts.
According to Doc Marie they are up-rooting from their current location opposite the church and moving to the front of the building where the doc has her surgery.
That building, from memory, has been various incarnations of restaurants over the past few years. All of which failed.
Don't know when the move will take place but they are well worth the visit even if you don't live in Adriers. Service with a smile, a hefty portion of humour and most of it delivered in English - to varying degrees - although they both like to hear you try out your French language skills.
They are a much needed breath of fresh air compared to the grumpy, automated, humourless so-called "service" at the pharmacy in Leclerc.....where even the queueing system is baffling to say the least.

Morning all,
I'm changing our server this morning to achieve greater reliability and security.
You shouldn't notice any difference after the change but the site may disappear from view for a while.
If all goes well, this will be for a few minutes at about 09:00. If all does not go well, the changeover may take about 2 hours.
does anyone has recommandations for an eye clinic or Optometrist / ophthalmologist within a 50 km radius around Monty with a decent wait time... i was told not before end December, is this a "normal" wait time in France ?..how can this be possible ?

Who else experienced the earthquake at 08:50 on 21st June?
Apparently the epicentre was about 60km north west of Poiters, and it was magnitude 4.2 Read all about it here!
I was indoors at the time, and it felt as if a large truck headbutted the house - twice, about 10 seconds apart.
No damage but several pots and pans were dislodged from their hook.

I am getting fed up with the people who supply our internet - the connection keeps flipping out and the charges keep getting higher and higher.
We are now paying an average of €40 to €45 a month for internet and "free" calls to Angleterre a month. They're obviously not free because we pay a flat rate for them within that cost.
This is on top of the France Telecom rental for the land line.
Can anyone out there in Montyland recommend a more reliable and cheaper internet provider than our current bunch of charalatans? They have to be reliable and not supply dodgy modems that pack-up at the faintest sniff of a storm.

Hi all, we're next back over from 26th July until 11th August. Apart from Les Herolles on the 29th, does anyone know of anything exciting/ worth a visit going on in the area during these times?
Anywhere apart from the Crocodile place in Civaux, that is. I swore if I went there one more time they would hear me screaming all the way to Rouen, but looks like I'll be eating my words and taking another trip there this Summer.
Last year we ended up joining a parade in St Benoit by accident, which turned out to be a good laugh. I can not remember what date that was on. Not sure if they do that every year. Does anybody have any info on that too?
Thanks, in advance.
Recently bought a second home in Montmorillon. Loving it so far, but looking to connect with folks. Been busy this trip setting up house. Looking forward to becoming part of the community (and improving my French)

Does anyone know whether this is supplied in bags or loose?
I don't want to turn up and pay my two euros only to have the ever-helpful staff simply shovel 80 litres of the stuff straight into the boot of my car

There's a new UK-owned brewery at Availles-Limouzine. They are having a Spring Fair on 14th April starting at midday.
They are promising a selection of draught beers (many UK types included), food and artisan producers and live music.
I'll be going along - see you there?

I wonder if anyone can help? I've got 8 pieces of tree that I need to slice into regular shapes. My bandsaw isn't big enough so I wondered if anyone on the Good Ship Monty had a bandsaw (12 inch cut or bigger) that they'd allow me to use for a couple of hours? Suitable compensation offered...
Thanks!
Brian

Rather a worrying turn here as the Mairie is considering installing CCTV around the centre of Montmorillon following a wave of "deliquent trouble."
I wonder what this recent "trouble" is.
Is rural France now becoming like big cities here and in Angleterre where the local youth, bored stupid and full of beer, cause some sort of "trouble"?
Surely not.Having said that, a boulangerie, the garage and a mini digger place all in Lathus were broken intio about two weeks ago.

Is anyone available to help move some furniture on Friday 5th April - or do you know of anyone who'd like some paid work?
Said furniture is located near La Souterraine and needs picking up, loading into a van, then unloading near Montmorillon - so it could take up to 4 hours. The only heavy/big item is the oven, otherwise just general items.
We would usually manage it ourselves but have a toddler who will probably be more of a hinderance than a help!
