Does anybody know where you can buy curry sauce ( madras or vindaloo )?
I have seen some sauces on the English shelves at Leclerc but they are all very mild.
Thanks in advance.

You're welcome.

I did just see it was on Amazon.fr but seemed expensive to me, but I don't buy it so wouldn't know. If you work out the cost of buying and shipping from the UK plus exchange rate and compare it may be worth it.

They have a website and it says they are available in Poitiers: https://www.pataks.fr/nous-trouver-en-ma...tion=86500

*For some reason I couldn't get the website to load in Firefox but it did in IE

Good luck.

Sorry for the late reply David but you can buy Patak's curry pastes (and sauces) at Eco Entrepot just outside Bussiere on the route to L'Isle Jourdain.

It also markets itself as "The Shed" presumably in recognition of the number of Brits going there.  From memory a jar of Patak's curry paste costs €2.39.  I don't know about the price of the sauces as I never buy them.

They also have a limited range of Sharwoods stuff plus some awful naan breads that taste as though they've been made in a carpet factory. Thumbsdown

Bonne chance.....

While we're on the subject, I was told ages ago that there is a very good Asian shop "just behind Family Village at Limoges" stocking a wide range of spices etc. Given the sprawling nature of FV it is no surprise that I've never been able to find it.

Can anyone confirm the existence of this Shangri La? And better still, an address!

@David I had to go to the Poitiers hospital last week and whilst there I popped in to both Leclerc and Auchan supermarkets on the south ring road and they both have Pataks products, I think the price was around €2 - €3 for sauces and pastes.

@Brian I don't know of that one myself but there is a good one behind the Cora Supermarket that Admiral put me on to. Thoune Asia Place de Beaubreuil. See post RE: White Wine Vinegar

There is also a little one in Poitiers if you're ever there directions here: RE: White Wine Vinegar

Thanks Fred.....beat me to it again.

Brian - the only thing I would add to my original post is that the Family Village has sprung up since I wrote it and Thoune Asia is nowhere near it.

At the roundabout for the northern industrial estate take the first exit.  At the next roundabout take the last exit and follow the road round (past a whacking great garden centre) and you will see the Cora sign ahead of you slightly to your left.

After that it's down to you to navigate the bizarre one way system.

Happy hunting. wave
