Hello again,
Does anyone out there know where we could buy some chickens? (non frozen) as we would like to have some for eggs and possibly some for meat birds. thanks in advace for your help Stuart

Hiya,
The gardem centre at L'Isle Jordain sells chickens. In a lovely sort of way you can view before you buy because the little buggers are happily running round clucking away to themselves. About 10€ for a big fat brown one. Other than that, I know nothing about chickens. Other than they're nice to eat. Especially in a curry.

I have no idea if your search for chooks was a triumph in old fashioned shopping.....but I happened to notice on my meanderings around the area that the new(ish) garden centre next to SuperU sells chickens. Sadly, you can't see the blighters  before you buy because it's a place your order, pay and collect later jobbie.There is a notice on the cash desk giving weights, types and prices if you're interested. Bonne chance. PS: You don't have to call me "Sir". Just "Your Holiness" will do because I'm quite modest in these matters.

Thank you very much for the info on the egg laying machines, the maison de poulet is coming along nicely and should be ready for habitation soon. So visits will be taken to the above named sources of feathery things.

Nothing better than your own fresh eggs, I think we are going to have to get some more this year as the ones we are buying aren't a patch on what our own were.

Many thanks to all concerned for the info. We found out the other day from our French nieghbour (arent there a lot of those here?) that we can buy chicks and chickens from France Rurale which, as it happens is just around the corner from us and they are around €2 to €3 a bird depending on it's age. So another place to go and pick up birds

So another place to go and pick up birds That's a good price Stuart is that the price for eating birds or layers? We paid €7 but they were starting to lay.
