I've bought glass (cut to size) from Mr Bricolage in Montmorillon several times in the past. The prices were OK and it took just a minute or two for them to find the glass and cut it.
Today's attempt was not nearly so straightforward.
I presented myself at the glass counter and said I wanted some glass cut. They will now only supply to tradespeople or if you have a devis. So the man took my details. Someone will phone me, come to measure the required glass (37 x 38cm - not difficult) then post me a devis which I can then take to Mr B to get it cut - if I am happy with the cost, the man said. Given the additional work involved, I suspect I won't be. Off to Bricomarche in Lussac tomorrow to see if sense still prevails there!

Can you still buy simple glass cutters ? I think it was like a little wheel on a stick type thing or even one like a pen. You used to be able to cut your own glass, but then you would need to have a piece of old glass.

Have you tried Intermarche, I think I have seen people getting glass cut to size there or Leroy Merlin I've always found them good.

I went to Intermarche today and they had no problem cutting the glass for me while I waited.

Although seeing how many sheets they assistant broke, I now understand why they charge 95€/m²!
