Hi everyone, has anyone got any info on events going on around Montmorillon this August please? We shall be over again to work on the houses, but we have to have a break too. I do like a brocante, although I manage to miss them every time I'm over. We arrive the 4th and leave on the 19th, so preferably in between those dates, thank you.

Hi Jane,

You should be in for some fine weather for your visit!

There's a fair bit going on around Montmorillon over the summer but with your dates I'm afraid you'll miss a few (air displays, concerts etc)

Montmorillon's main brocante is on August 18th and 19th at Place de la Victoire with over 100 stalls. We've been a couple of times and there is a big range of things from brand new tat to old precious things.

If you can get up to Chauvigny, there is an excellent market every Saturday morning which usually has a number of brocante type stalls.

I'll keep looking but if anyone else has any suggestions please chip in.

Thanks Brian. We always go to Chauvigny. There's a nice creperie there too. Trust us to miss all the main events again.

I've just discovered Brocante d'Atelier - just east of Chauvigny. Great variety of stuff and they're happy to haggle! Go to Google maps and enter 8FR2HMGM+4X into the search bar for the exact location.

Well I never knew that was there! - Brocante d'Atelier - just east of Chauvigny.

Now I need to avoid driving that way in case my wife sees it!

I’ve just realised I misread your first post Brian. I can at least go to the Brocante at Montmorillon on the 18th, the day before we return home. 
I think there is a brocante in our village, La Trimouille, on Sunday 5th August, the day after we arrive, so if you see some people walking round bleary eyed, after a 14/15 hour drive the day before, that’ll be us. There’s also a 2 day festival in Thollet coming up, if anyone’s interested. It’s 6 euros entry and it’s on 14th and 15th August.
