Today's collection happened as scheduled.
However, the number of complaints is apparently increasing by the day and there's a publicly organised petition to get SIMER to change their ways. It's currently at 1400 signatures. Apparently when it reaches 1500, the local press will get involved in the search for answers so please sign it!

Signed it. Les doigts croisés!

The water people seem also to have peculiar charge policies. I have a garden which is separated from the house by a narrow lane. When I bought the house and garden a week ago it was registered to me as a single acquisition. However, I have received two separate demands for water: one for the house, a second for the garden. Both impose the same annual charge (60 euros) plus a charge per cubic metre used. The house is connected to main drains; the supply from a single tap in the garden soaks into the ground, i.e. no sewage connection. This seems discriminatory. Can anyone shed light on this please?

Now that, Peter, could be a tricky one.
If it were me, Is go back to the notaire who handled the transaction and ask him to check how the individual parcels are registered. If they are separate and each has its own water supply them I suspect you will get two bills.

However, if there is some way to bind the parcels together in legal terms then you may be able to get rid of that second bill. But don't rely on what I say - I'm just a citoyen with access toa computer - go and see your notaire!

The notaire was pleasant, efficient, clearly knowledgeable and made a couple of updates in the vente authentique to safeguard my rights. Good thinking Batman and thank you. I shall go back to her.
