Chris, one other thing to mention was that during the transition period I went through the old site users, seeing who had been active within the past year or so and sent personalised private messages to all of them informing of the upcoming change.
Unfortunately there were actually only a few 'real' regulars for the old place so not many people read their PMs I suspect.
Fred is doing sterling work in getting the new site up in the Google (and other) rankings and one of the best ways we can help achieve this is by all of us actively posting new messages. Each day or so Google and the other search engines crawl around our site with their robots looking for new pages, each time it does it moves us just a little further towards the top of the rankings (unless someone else has a similar site/content - then it becomes a challenge and we have to actively persuade it to rank us higher through the use of various 'top secret' methods).
They used to say "points make prizes" well nowadays on the internet it's more like "posts make rankings".
