We put our cardboard in the yellow bin, had no problems. Yes Simer is not cheap and even though they encourage you to take your cuttings etc to the dechetrie they also charge a fortune to buy it back to put on your garden.
We have gone back to the old days of dumping stuff like that at the bottom of our garden, but we have plenty of room. There is a bike and probably soon a lawnmower down there, but it's no longer easy to get rid of stuff.

I get not wanting to do the fly screen work yourself, but the biggest tip I could give would be to get at least two but maybe three quotes/devis to compare prices.
