I've just joined your group.
We live in France and considering re-locating. What's the weather/climate like in Montmorillon and surrounding areas? I realise that weather is changing a lot and certainly has over the last few years we've been here - but generally what is it like?
Thank you.
Hello,
I guess it depends where in France you live to make comparisons to this region. We moved up from the Gironde (between Bergerac and Bordeaux) just over two and a half years ago. On average it is on a par in summer or perhaps 1 or 2 degrees cooler here, autumn is a bit cooler here and winter also colder. Spring was strange this year, a bit early but warm. We have only experienced damp winters here so far but have been told by neighbours that in the past winter could bring snow and -15 degrees so we'll see. Saying that my first winter in the Gironde brought -15 degrees but it was dry so by lunchtime you could be working in a t-shirt. The humidity seems to make it feel colder some days even though the temperature is higher. I guess it depends what you're used to and what you're looking for. The prices of property in this region are also inviting and there are bargains to be had compared to other regions in France. Again depends what work you do or if you are retired. Plenty of cattle and sheep around the region, took us a little while to adjust from being surrounded by vines! The countryside here is lovely,so take a look around. Hope this may be of some help
