What's wrong with ID cards?
EU are working on a C19 "passport" but it'll only be for EU and Schengen members
As for the weeds, there are plenty of local jardiniers that would be pleased to take on the job.
Steve my Bonaparte jibe is, sadly, not my original idea. I've picked it up from the French press and commentators on France24 in the last couple of months. He is obviously not popular. I didn't mean any offence to France in general or the French people in particular. Lovely country, lovely people.
There is everything wrong with ID cards. The state has control over individuals, knows where they are, what they are doing etc.
I'm more than happy for the EU to work on a C19 passport whatever that entails and as long as they keep it to themselves. Knowing the EU they will spend years going through various committees and then forget what the purpose was in the first place.
I never really understand the problem with ID cards - having had a total of 7 different ones in my time (two of which I still possess) they have a lot more benefits than problems caused/associated with them. When you're over here do you have an EHIC (or GHIC as is now) card, should you use that the UK gov would then know where you are. Got a modern driving licence, same applies there.
