Complaining about trees must be a French past time. Within a couple of weeks of buying our house we'd had complaints from the neighbours on both sides. What I couldn't understand is why they hadn't complained before to the previous (French) owner! Admittedly, they were ridiculously large and certainly blocked most of the sun for most of the day from one of my neighbours' very large vegetable patch, so they did have a valid point. It cost me €1500 to have 21 Leylandii taken down, apparently to loud applause from the neighbours. I had hoped that such an expensive display of good-neighbourliness might have brought me a few free vegetables from next door - but I'm still waiting!
