Yikes. Just started registering an Anglais motor in France and was horrified to now learn that:
A) I have to PAY for a certificate of conformity.
B) If I've read the paperwork correctly I have to pay an "emissions tax" at the end of the process.
This is outrageous and didn't happen with the first car we had here.....although that is going back a bit.
And another thing.....I apparently don't find out how much I'm going to have to pay in emissions tax until the end of the process.
I know a couple of people who have pulled out of the process right at the end hurdle because of this tax, i.e. the charge was more than the car was worth.
Have things changed so dramatically since I went through all this several hundred years ago?
