Yes it's a shame but if they cause destruction or steal your food then you have no option. I was tempted to use Rat Poison, but I'm a bit worried in case it is a Toad. I would hate for him to eat the poison, I don't know if they do or not but I don't want to risk killing a Toad.
Also I'm not keen on poison as it's in the polytunnel next to our tomatoes.
