A small silver coin that disappeared several years after the UK went decimal. Or just plain and simply down-graded the currency because Harold Wilson had bankrupted the country.
Anyway, you could get an awful lot of blackjacks at the sweetie shop for a tanner, as we older folk used to call it.
After the decimal revolution it morphed into two-and-a half new pence, and the number of blackjacks available for the money declined along with nearly everything else.
