Update (a bit tardy)
Visited Roc Aux Sorciers as planned. A tad disappointing, even knowing before that you don't get to see the real thing. Probably something children would enjoy as there were a few things for them and a film for all. I would advise the guided tour, which was popular with others and gives you more information. Angles sur L'Anglin is very pretty.
The musee in Lussac was similar but more enjoyable. It was only us and we opted for the guided tour which includes a visit to the caves by the lake The lake area is worth a picnic by itself. A lovely young lady took us around the musee, she spoke in English (though I didn't ask for this) and was really helpful. The caves are just shelters, all the art has been removed, however I did spot a shell fossil in the cave ceiling which the guide had never noticed before! The artwork on display in the musee is on pieces of flint - worth a quick research (grottes de la Marche) as there is some controversy.
Also visited Ile aux Serpents. We took some family including 2 kids under 6 yrs, who said it was just the right size place to keep them interested (the kids that is!). You can get to see/stroke a snake close up if you're there at the right time and there was a giant tortoise on the loose while we were there and some meerkats outside having a snooze.
Also what about Puy de Fou? I 'd never heard of it before this trip but the neighbours and others really recommend a trip there. I think it's a hour or so from Poitiers.Maybe next year...
