A quick update.
My friend only had a phone number for his timber supplier - Remy.
Although my French is good enough to deal with most things face-to-face I have a horror of making a phone call entirely in French, but on this occasion I Had no choice.
Remy spoke no English but in the subsequent conversation, I thought I ordered 2 steres of 3 year oak, cut to 40cm, for a price of €80 per stere, delivered but not stacked. He said he would drop it off when passing and took my phone number. That was over 2 weeks ago and I have heard nothing. I am beginning to think my phone conversation was not exactly what I thought it was...
Does anyone know where a timber supplier called Remy lives?
Does anyone have any useful hints for making successful phone calls in French???
