Black mold....

Anyone know of a safe way to remove black mold?

We've got an interesting manifestation of the stuff on a interior wall due, I'm sure, to our rather "damp" autumn and winter.

Many "helpful" folk have told me the deeply unattractive splodge is dangerous for reasons too numerous to bore you with. Therefore, IF it is dangerous, is there a proper way to remove the stuff without killing myself? O should I just let Madame Admiral loose with a paint scraper?

I usually just go at it with a scrubbing brush and household cleaner or bleach, I've heard people say Vinegar or Baking Soda works.

I don't think all black mold is dangerous, but as it's a type of fungus you should probably wear a mask while cleaning as it could possibly cause problems in large amounts. But I'm no expert and I suppose it depends how much you have and how often it keeps coming back.

Hopefully someone else will have a better answer, as I'd be interested too.

Yes vinegar and bicarb is good, leave on a little while first.

I'm going for the vinegar and bicarb option because I like the sound of it.

I will purchase a couple of masques d'hygiene and a tub of bicarb ahead of Madame Admiral cleaning the stuff off the wall.

The only possible problem here is that I haven't told her she's doing the job. After all, gentlemen don't get their hands dirty.

Also, if it doesn't sound too crazy timing is off the essence!

A waning moon would be the best time to attack it to ensure it stays away longer. In March around the 17 - 31.

Thanks for that Clubby. The waning moon thing sounds a bit wierd but I will don my druid robe, put on a pointy hat and dance around a bonfire on the 17th before tackling the black mold stuff.
