In case anyone is interested in seeing how different regions/departments/towns voted, there's a useful website run by the FranceInfo TV channel. Here are the results for Montmorillon.

I was wondering how this area voted simply because every time I mentioned Marine Le Pen to anyone I would get an amazed shake of the head and people telling me she's mad.

Interesting to see the Communist/Maoist candidate polled quite well.  The old appeal of the far left still has quite a pull in mainly rural areas which obviously means the farmers want more subsidies to buy that new Jag.
