There are some big changes coming to the contrôle technique in May.
Instead of 124 checks there will be 400. So if your car is due it's contrôle technique soon it may be worth you booking it in early to avoid the extra checks.
It's still going to be every two years, but it will be harder to pass.
Edit: Looks like the information I first found is incorrect as it was reported wrong by most French media.
It now looks like it's going to be 132 checks and not 400.
Don't blame me I only reported fake news.
Apparently it was announced wrong on a TV program and the press reported what they saw without looking into it.
