Wow..........that was some storm last night!!! We`d two medium sized trees down, and an extra 6" of water in the swimming pool. Was everyone else OK? I`d have hated to be camping in that!!

All good here, though we do have a couple of trees down in the village but nothing serious.
It was certainly a surprise and came in so quick there wasn't much time to batten down the hatches. First time I've known Metcheck to get it that wrong. Hope everyone else is fine.

That was rather sudden, wasn't it? We lost a couple of trees but it saves me some chainsaw time
If there are storms about, I have a look at this lightning mapping website. It gives real time indications of lightning strikes, and a circle grows out from each strike to show where the thunder can be heard. To me, it's more interesting than useful. One thing I've learned from it is that if thunderstorms approach from the south west, they are likely to follow the valley of eth Vienne or Gartempe rather than the fairly flat land between the two. It's just occurred to me that I may be a complete geek...

The yellow dots with a red ring are lightning strikes from the last minute. Over the next hour, they fade away to brown then transparent, enabling you to track the path of the storm. So if you live in Montmorillon, that's where all the noise is coming from!
