Hi,

We are back in La Trimouille next week for a couple of weeks and weather permitting we would like to take some walks around our local area.

It would be great to buy some maps (similar to Ordinance Survey) and wondered where we might buy these and if there is a type (scale/detail etc) that would be better for this sort of thing.

Thanks

IGN produces a range of maps which can sometimes be found in LeClerc in Montmorillon. The 1:25000 range is good for walkers as it shows known GR and GRP tracks. They are also available online so you could order now and the map should be waiting for you when you arrive. Here's the one for La Trimouille.

Edited to add: Cultura also stocks a good range of maps. The closest ones are at Family Village in Limoges and Chasseneuil just north of Poitiers.

You may be able to find walking routes from the Mairie or go online to Entre Poitou et Brenne which has a list of local clubs including walking clubs/randonee. All of the communes on this site have walking trails

A good suggestion to try the Mairie or local Facebook groups. Our Mairie (Adriers) has a series of walking maps that can be downloaded from their website.

I have bought IGN 1:25,000 French walking maps in the UK from the Map Shop = https://www.themapshop.co.uk/francewalk.htm They have provided an excellent service in the past. Mind you, if you are here now, then Brian's suggestion of LeClerc will be cheaper.

In case anyone is still looking, here's a link to a map detailing a number of walks throughout South Vienne...
