I need some sphagnum moss to help nurse a bonsai tree back to life. I've discovered it's called mousse de sphaigne but can't find any local stockists.

It seems to be easily available on Amazon - as long as you don't mind that it's shipped from China. I'd rather buy locally if possible.

Any suggestions, please?

Not sure if this is the stuff you are looking for ?

If so these pictures were taken on a walk in one of the recognised "Sentiers de randonnées" a couple of years ago.

This Google map is pointing at the start.

*You will need some good shoes.

Failing that I have seen it at "Le saut de la Brame" too.

Thanks Fred
Sadly I don't think that's the same stuff.
Sphagnum has much longer fibre length - about 25cm - so has better water retention.

My (UK based) bonsai expert tells me that if you use the wrong type of moss it can be bad for the tree. All to do with acidity levels, apparently.

How about Agriflor at Isle Joudain ?

I think I've seen bonsai trees for sale there, so they may have some or know where to get it.

Or you may have to go to Poitiers or Limoges.

That's the first place I asked. They said "n'est pas necessaire" and then explained that they weren't really experts on bonsai...
