My daughter asks to buy her a ferret as a pet. I don’t know too much about these pets. If there are owners of freo on this forum, then I will be glad to hear how you feed these pets, what accessories are needed and how much money a month it takes to maintain your pet?

The silence speaks volumes...

I don't remember ever hearing any talk of ferrets here, I'm afraid.

However, on a visit to the vet in Rue Terrier Blanc another customer was waiting with a ferret and the vet seemed very fond of the critter so could well be worth talking to for some advice. Here's their website.

Thank you very much for answering me. I thought ferrets were pretty popular pets. I read a lot on the Internet on special portals about these animals how to take care of them, for example, I know which diet best suits ferrets (here https://bestferretguide.com/best-cat-food-for-ferrets/ I found an article), but I know that real life is very different from the instructions. I would like to know more about the problems that arise with ferrets. Firstly, how to deal with the smell, because I know that ferrets have glands that produce an unpleasant smell, like skunks.

According to Patrick, my ferret-owning friend, the ferret's BO problem is not as bad as people think, as long as you:
1 Feed them proper ferret food (specifically not cat/dog food as many people and web sites suggest).
2 Keep their cages as clean as possible, removing any (ahem) waste products as quickly as possible
3 Engage with them and give them lots of things to play with

Patrick now has 4 and I can attest that his flat does not smell of ferrets at all!

Good luck!
