Hello O Knowledgeable Ones,
Next week I have to go to the UK for a week - I'm flying from Poitiers.
I plan to get to the airport by motorbike but I'm having problems discovering the charge for motorbike parking at Poitiers.
So far I have:
  •    Looked at the website - lots of info about hourly, daily, weekly, subscription rates for cars but I can't find any bike info
  •    Emailed them (10 days ago) but no reply
  •    Phoned them - whenever I phone either they are desolated that they do not know, or desolated that the person who knows isn't there
  •    Googled - nothing useful returned

So does anyone here know if there are special rates for parking bikes?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

You're not going to like this but......during the many times we have parked at Poitiers over the years I have never noticed any special/different rates for motorbikes.

Nor have I ever seen any special area for parking motos.

No help whatsoever I know, but if I were you, I would park up for your free fifteen minutes, leap in a sprightly and athletic manner from your machine and ask a young person on the desk.  They are very helpful in there but your biggest clue will come in reading the info on the ticket machine.  Which is helpfully buried out of sight in an alcove outside the terminal building.

Sorry 'bout that. Doh

Thanks Admiral,
I fear that you are right. I was trying to avoid an unnecessary drive to to the airport just to read the parking regs. I think I'll take the car this time but take the trouble to read the info in full.

Well here's a surprise.
After two weeks plus, I have received an email reply from those nice people at Poitiers Airport which says:

"Hello,
We have a shelter and a special tariff for motorcycles of 54€ for 7 days."

The 54€ bit rang a bell so I visited the parking website and the tariff for cars is 19€ for the first two days then 7€ per day thereafter.

So 54€ for 7 days.

It did cross my mind to email back and ask them what was special about the bike tariff but found myself shrugging and thinking "tant pis".

I have become more French than I realised...

Why not offer an English person €20 to let you ride beside their car as they go out. Or better still just go across the grass.

Hang on what about Limbo Riding? If you lay right down on your bike you may just fit under the barrier.

I've just come back from Blighty and I noticed on going out of the car park you could easily get a bike past the barrier if you fancy the chance. Wink
