Don't know if this is of any help but our printer always runs out of ink just when you want to use it. (Apparently they do dry up over time)

As I only make a couple of copies per year and the cartridges are far to expensive I decided to put a 3 page document I needed printing on a USB. There is a place at Poiters that will do them and we are going up there soon so I thought I would give it a try

But the other day we were passing through Lathus and there is a little Tabac shop next to the Spar and I thouhgt maybe they could do it, so I popped in and asked if they could print from a USB. And the young lady in there was very helpful and indeed she can print from a USB.

She printed my three crystal clear pages for 30 Cts

So I won't be buying any more printer cartridges. I'll keep the printer as it scans too, but for my occasional printing I will go to the nice young lady in Lathus.

That's good to know.  Is the service advertised or is it one of those French "Bien sûr mais seulement pour les amis" arrsngements? Like the coffee and cake in our local pharmacie.

I didn't notice any signs saying she done them, but it's a service for anyone as I have never been in there before. She just took my usb and plugged it into her machine, she said there are three pages on the key and asked if I wanted them all printed then asked me how many copies I wanted. She even asked if I wanted black and white or colour, a few seconds later my copies were done.

I did wonder if it's something to do with her doing the Lotto as it looked like she put the key in the till thing that does the Lotto, so I don't know if other places would have the facility or not. Maybe the Tabac's are trying other services to make up for the loss of smokers.

But she was very helpful, I will definitely go back again.

Coffee and Cake at the pharmacie! I wonder if I can get a prescription. [Image: 91.gif]

It's defo not one of your "private services" Brian but it is also not advertised.

Surprisingly the tabac in Lathus offers a wide range of goods and services.  Printing from a USB to printing double sided photocopies is just the beginning.

The young lady - Carole is her name seeing as you didn't ask - also sells writing paper, exercise books, envelopes and stamps.  Saves trudging to La Poste.

She also sells everything connected to fishing - from rods and various tackle to live bait and permits.

Plus there is a plethora of "gifts" mainly in the retro-vintage mode, wall clocks, greetings and birthday cards.  Soft drinks, sweets, Lotto and euromillion tickets.  Oh, nearly forgot, she also sells tobacco related products.

Good to see a young French person grabbing the horns of commerce and making a go of a business in the depths of rural France. Thumb

By the by - I've had a v nice cup of coffee in your pharmacie.

Does that make me a member of an exclusive club? Whistle
