Is anyone having problems getting connected to fiber ? We have been waiting for years now and finally it has arrived, I got a message to book a technician and they confirmed the 1st of this month, then it got cancelled.

We got another confirmation for the 4th of this month but on the 5th they sent a message saying we were not here, I phoned the English speaking line and complained they have said it will definitely be next Tuesday the 16th.

I've since found on the Orange forum a lot of French people complaining about the company installing the fiber, has anyone here had problems ?

Fibre arrived in Adriers a couple of years ago and the installations seemed to go very smoothly. As we're 3km away from the village the fibre doesn't stretch as far as us...

Bon chance! Orange do seem to be getting worse - it seems to have coincided with them starting to use more subcontractors.

Thank you Brian, I'm not holding my breath but I have always found the English speaking line to be helpful with problems.

I'll report back if I finally do get connected. Thumb

Yes - it was good to know they were there when I was with Orange but since moving to Sosh (Orange's subsidiary) 2 years ago, I haven't actually needed the helpline. Their automated systems seem to alert me to potential problems and let me know what they're doing to sort it. If yu have a Sosh mobile contract they usually add a generous amount to the monthly data allowance to cover any landline shortfall.

Thank you Brian, I may have a look at it but I will wait till I'm settled with the fiber if it finally gets here as I wouldn't want to confuse them Big Grin

They usually offer us credit on our phone if we get problems, but we have Reglo Mobile at €1.50 per month so we never get anything. They also offer us a 4g box but we can't get a signal in the house.

Hopefully fiber won't give us so many problems.

We Got Fiber

The appointment was between 10:00 - 16:00 he arrived 10:15 and got straight to work, I did help him out a couple of times. He struggled to get a good footing on his ladder so I held it for him, then he couldn't get through our stone wall Big Grin Luckily I still had my monster SDS hammer drill in the shed and after half an hour he managed to get through.

All in it took him around three hours and he even set the box up (which wasn't on his job to do) I fired up my laptop and it was like watching Star Trek at warp speed in fast motion, he laughed at my reaction.

I just ran a test. Every Sunday I take a download of my server just in case we ever loose our host, it usually takes around 1/2 hour and I have to make sure no other internet equipment is running. I just took a download with the kitchen laptop playing music, Mrs Fred paying a game on her tablet and it came in at just under 45 seconds.

The landline phone no longer works correctly as it doesn't ring but just goes straight to answerphone, I don't mind that as it was our original dail-up one and it never rings these days. So I'll put up with that as I've set it up that the internet box will send me an email with the callers number and an mp3 I can listen to.

My complaint to the English line mus have worked.

Happy days Smile

Well done. Five
From what I've heard fibre tends to be very reliable so let's hope you won't need to bother the helpline in the near future!

They did phone us whilst he was here and asked if he had turned up. Thumb

A question for anyone that has fiber, the download speed is slower than the upload speed. Is this normal as with the ADSL the download was faster than the upload, it's no big deal as it's whizzing along nicely but just thought I would ask.
