There's a website called Green Acres which has a lot of listings of private sales. Estate agent fees are much higher in France than the UK so many people prefer to bypass the agencies and sell/buy privately...

We finally had an offer accepted on a house. But not in Montmorillon - close by in Lussac-les-Châteaux.
So onwards and upwards from here.

Good luck with your house purchase we are down the road Montmorillon and often visit Lussac. 
We found the whole buying process a lot less stressful than buying in England.
