Builders and Roofers

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good, cheap, roofer and a good, cheap, renderer? Just wanting some numbers, and some ideas of prices. Won't be needed it done for a while yet, so if it's someone who has a lot of work on at the moment that's fine. 
The house we've got is in La Trimouille, so anyone around that area thank you.

The answer rather depends on whether you'd prefer good or cheap! I'm afraid they are frequently mutually exclusive.
The best advice is to get three quotes so you can compare them. See how you get on with the artisan concerned and talk to some previous customers.

That is very good advice.

Unfortunately there have been cases of the British ripping off the British. That does not mean all British are the same and there are some very good British builders and roofers out there, but I have seen a few cases where people have been ripped off by people that pretend to know what they're doing but in truth know nothing and just make it up as they go along.

I would say use registered builders only, yes you may pay a bit more but in the long run it could save you money and a lot of heartache. Get three Devis (Quotes) on headed paper with the builders name and conditions of payment from three companies preferably that have been recommended to you or ones that are happy to show you some work they have done.  

Most of all be very very careful.

Sorry I can't recommend anyone myself as I've not used any apart from a local French window fitter who can highly recommend.

I used Fabrice Pouget to render our house, he did some repairs to our roof too but I don't know if he's a roofer as such. I would recommend him, he turned up on time, did a good job and left the place tidy.
I'm sure you're aware of him as he's based in La Trimouille.

He's going to remove the rendering and re point it. I have his contact details if anyone is interested. I've seen his work and he's pretty much booked up, so seems popular. Nice man too.

Hi, we did get someone to do our roof a few years back, but I'm sorry I don't have his number now. We recently had the house repointed and can recommend someone for that if you are interested. Not sure if anyone else on here knows any roofers.
