This is our first time in France for 14 July, is there anywhere that would be good to go?

I've not been to many, but did enjoy Saint Savin.

It's also worth looking around as some of the smaller towns have them on different days.

Sorry not a great deal of help, hopefully others will have more info. Wink

Both Montmorillon and Lathus have Bastille Day celebrations.

The Lathus spectacle is usually held at the football ground and includes the obilagatoire drinks tent, barbecue and fireworks. The whizzbangs usually start at 1030pm - the drinking and eating much earlier.

The Montmorillon event is very similar - except the fireworks are much bigger and better. So they should be - Montmorillon is a town and Lathus ain't..

The Bar Commerce in Montmorillon usually has a bit of a "do" that evening of its own and you can see the fireworks from there. Unless they decide to move the venue....Whistle

L'Isle Jourdain has a similar do. Again it's held at the football "ground" which is situated a little behind the swimming pool. Very good fireworks when we went.

Lathus Bastille Day celebrations are on Saturday July 12. Kick-off is 1930.

Monday July 14 sees the annual boules competition which is always a bit of a hoot with beer, wine, frites and the usual.

Open to all. So if you're any good at chucking a round lump of metal on uneven ground then this could be for you......Whistle
