Hello Everyone,

I am searching for an optometrist in 86 or adjacent department who won't make my husband and I wait three years for an appointment! Yes, that's what one Poitiers doctor's waiting list is like. We prefer to conduct this in France, not the UK. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
PastelPainter

Mrs Fred has been trying to get one but too since the one in Montmorillon retired it is difficult,. She did in the end find out they have a department at the Montmorillon Hospital, if you go and see them they will advise.

Though they did tell her she will have to wait till September before she could make an appointment.  Wall

She explained that she need glasses for driving and it is marked on her licence, but they still said come back in September.

Don't know if that helps, but that is all she has been able yo find out, so if anyone does know more please add.
Hello Fred, thank you for the info. Will make a visit to the M'llon hospital then. But that is really amusing about Mrs. Fred's predicament (well, not for her though.) But it's so very very what happens here in La Belle  france

Bye for now and again, thank you.

I forgot to mention. Depending on what type of glasses you need, you can also have a check done in L'eclerc Poitiers. Mrs Fred walked in and they checked her eyes at no charge, but did tell her she needed to see an ophthalmologist and they couldn't help.

So maybe worth a try.

How very French! In a similar vein, I recently emailed a garden equipment company with a straightforward query. They replied after 4 days. Sole contents of the message: "please telephone us to discuss this matter".
For The opthalmologist at Montmorillon hospital you have to phone or go in Wednesday only - the lovely young lass there doesn't speak any English so you might want to brush up in your French eye problem phrases Smile I went in last week and was told they would write to me this week or next week telling me when my appointment is. So I'm guessing it won't be any time soon!

That's interesting Huw.

Mrs Fred went there a couple of weeks ago and saw a lady (who wasn't a lovely young lass)  Big Grin And she was told to she couldn't book an appointment till September.

So I will tell her to try again on a Wednesday. If/when you get your appointment please report back.

Thank you.

Fred.
Hi Fred
The receptionist for ophthalmology is in the ophthalmology secretariat on Wednesday the rest of the week its the general surgery reception - might have the phone number still, will look when I get back home and post it here, though I'm Better face to face than on the phone usually. Good luck

Thank you Huw. Yes we find it easier in person.

Mrs Fred went straight after I told her, so hopefully she will see the person you mentioned.

Hi all
As promised here is the phone number (rather belatedly so with apologies) for ophthalmologist reception at M M hospital 05 49 83 60 65
I imagine its only worth ringing on Wednesdays.
Despite being told they would write in a week or two with details of appointment, after a month still not heard anything. so will have to explore other avenues
