Hello all,

My partner and I are considering investing in a few tools and wondered if anyone had experience / could advise on good places to look for things like cement mixers, petrol chainsaws and possibly a small generator?

We are not yet connected to the mains power, so we are looking for either self-powering tools or a small generator to run them from.

Up till now, we have worked on a small solar kit which has worked well for our needs, but it won't support the bigger demands of the larger tools.

Thanks all

I don't think I can be of much help here.

If you have the ability to charge batteries, I have tried a few rechargeable makes over the years, but now buy exclusively Ryobi. Their One+ system uses the same battery for all the tools, from drills to leafblowers, chainsaws to routers.

My only experience with petrol powered tools suggests that if you want a generator, Honda are always highly recommended. For a petrol powered chainsaw, I was advised that Stihl is the one to go for. I bought a 35cc Stihl about 6 years ago and use it for feeling and logging about 4 trees a year and cutting planks etc from the lengths. It still works like new.

Stihl and Ryobi are stocked by Mr Bricolage and Leroy Merlin.

Let us know what you decide to go for!
