Hi all

Deep breath!!

Been trying to find out more info about how we can declare the necessary for the Taxe D'Habitation which we now must do (we believe)

We have a place near Lathus and use it as a holiday home. We're reading that as second home owners, we must declare this but appear to be going around in circles trying to set up a personal space on the impots website.

Has anyone else had a successful journey on this - we've not had a personal space on Impots.gouv before as we've never had to declare anything and only used the site to settle property tax bills. We filled out what we thought was the right form, but had an email back directing us to our local office (which we must visit in person as we don't have a personal space on Impots..... Angry )

Any pointers gratefully received Confused Confused Thumb Rules Rules

Thanks everyone
I have two suggestions:
1 Talk to the notaire who handled your purchase. They are well versed in such matters and usually don't charge for duties such as this.
2 Visit your local tax office next time you're over and ask them for advice. The one for Montmorillon is at 7 avenue de l'Europe (details here). In the first instance just pop in and see them. They may be able to deal with your query there and then or may need to make a further appointment.
One tip - whatever your level of French, try to make your initial requests in French. They do have staff who speak English but tend to hide them away until they know that you're making the effort to engage.

Bon chance!

We thought that may be the case. We'll keep the thread updated in case it helps anyone else.

Much appreciated as always Thumb Thumb

Please do - I don't think anyone here has had to do this since Brexit...

Hi All
i had the same issue here in Lussac, thanks to my  G.F i was able some kind of help see pics below (extract of her "space")
you need to create your personal space on the impot website (they will ask your fiscal # which is on your taxe habitation, no need to have any income in france )  then access you space go at the bottom of the page and follow my "guide" .

hope this help
Mike
1: create you space using your fiscal#
2: Then create you space (they ask for mail/ phone # and other information such as selecting a pwd),
then once you are done, access your space go to the bottom of the page “Biens immobilers” click on access to fill out your property details

Then you enter the details : main residence / vacation residence / date etc..
 And you are done

Here's a crib sheet!

When it opens in your browser, click download in the header and you can save the file to your device if you wish.
Thanks, Mike - that's very helpful!

Brian

Will let you know if not....

Take care all
I have been up to the tax office in Montmorillon today. Using a mix of poor French and not so  great English , a very pleasant guy helped me fill out forms and set me up. I now have a tax number which I didn't have before as we only bought the property last year.  He said I'd get the tax bills later in the year so I seem to be sorted
