Myself Andrea, and my partner Andy have recently bought a holiday home in Montmorillon. We are returning this week for our second prolonged visit after an eventful first visit in April which flew by sorting out utilities etc. (We had no hot water for the first 5 days). We love browsing in brocantes and markets for furniture to fill our new home. Our French is poor but we are keen to learn so if anyone knows of any groups practicing French we'd love to hear about them.
Hello and welcome to the forum. Not sure of any French teaching groups myself, so will leave that to someone else to answer. We have our home in La Trimouille, which we'll be visiting shortly and we hope to move over asap. Just decorating our house here in the UK to sell, and then as soon as we can be we'll be there permanently too.
There is a depot/vente called la Chinetterie at Lussac les Chateaux that has various bits of everything and can deliver.Also there is Maximum at Mailhac sur Benaize that also sells all kinds of household/furniture etc. The depot/vente prices vary as a good deal of the items are priced by the individual seller and la Chinetterie(ADECL) take a 30% commission on the price which is not negotiable but they have a lot of stuff that is donated and generally has a lower price tag. I used to work there so unless it's changed greatly may be worth a look,Maximum definately

I don't know where you're based, but in L'Isle Jourdain there is a group that has a French conversation group - I believe it's every Thursday at 09:00 and I think it's held at their office, 15 Place d'Armes, L'Isle Jourdain. Their phone number is 0549841773- and they do speak English!

here which should give you more details - although it looks as if the page was last updated in 2017. The Tourist office in L'Isle Jourdain (1 Place d'Armes, L'Isle Jourdain) should know how to unearth them.

Hello Andrea and Andy sorry I'm a bit late with the welcome.
Not sure if it's still there, but years ago we took French lessons in a building (Eco Espace) not far from the hospital. It was offered free to some people like job seekers, but it was also low cost if you had to pay. Could be worth going up there or asking at the Mayors office.
