When I first moved to the region, I was told that roofers who no longer wanted to spend all summer 10m closer to the sun offered a service, whereby they would use a long pole to shuffle undamaged tiles on your roof around to seal any leaks etc. Despite asking at my local mairie, no-one seems to know anyone like that around Adriers so I wondered if anyone on the forum had heard of (or better still, contact details for, such an artisan.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Brian
Hiya Brian,

When I were a lad, fettlers were blokes who did maintence jobs on the railways.  But there again I was a lad a long time ago.

Not a lot of help I know but I did like seeing the word fettlers again.

Pip pip,

You'd like it at Chez Brian - fettling is a way of life.

I have now made myself a tile fettling system and am trying to teach myself how to use it. I have a bizarre mix of low- and high-tech, with my collection of wooden poles used in collaboration with a WiFi camera inside the barn pointing at the roof, broadcasting to my phone which is fastened to the pole. The next stage will involve sending the drone up for live coverage!

The learning is going well. The roof doesn't leak any more than it did before I started fettling...

Interesting stuff Brian. Probably a daft question, but could you put some sort of arm on your drone to move the tiles around ?

Good idea but I think I'd need a much bigger drone. And probably better piloting skills!
