Bonjour Apologies for the enforced absence but there appears to some sort of virus going around and we're happily sitting it out in London.

Now.....the question is this; does the taxe d'habitation still exist?

I  only ask because all our forwarded mail from France has contained every bill from electric to internet to bins to mains drains and the taxe fonciere (joy) but no taxe d'habitation.

A couple of chums still in France say it does but I think they've "gone native" and therefore not entirely reliable.

Soooo.....answers on a postcard please.

Many thanks Christophe.

I had a horrible feeling this was still around despite Little Manny Macron making a lot of noise about getting rid of it. Thumbsdown  Thumbsdown  Thumbsdown

You'd happily sit it out in London, rather than your country retreat?!
We thought we would have liked to sit it out in France but I'm not so sure now. London is more relaxed than I hear it is in the French Countryside.
Have you, will you return to France?
Judging by an earlier post by Michael many of the Brits there may have 'gone native' - protest in Monty by the Brits Big Grin
