Some of you may have noted that there is a UK general election on December 12.

This gives ex pats in France - and elsewhere - precious little time to arrange to vote - something I assume you will all want to do as this election will be centred around Brexit with many regarding it as a de-facto second referendum. Doh   Wrong I know.  There are many more important issues such as the NHS, crime, police numbers etc etc.

The Electoral Commission is recommending ex pats register to vote using a proxy vote and to NOT rely on the unreliable postal vote system.  The proxy vote sees you nominate a trusted person to vote on your behalf in the UK.  Or you can opt for "in person" proxy vote which involves your trusted person being sent a postal ballot and they post it back to your local polling station by UK post.

Just to remind you; last time out a massive number of people in France only received their postal votes after the polls had been and gone.

So.. get organised and don't get left in the position of being a Moaning Myrtle if the election result doesn't go "your way."

The Electoral Commission website has loads of info.

I would put the link on here but I am of a certain age and computer illiterate when it comes to the fancy stuff. Whistle
Ah, if only I was still franchised.

We shall be in the UK for December. I am happy to act as a 'in house proxy' - message me if you are interested.
