My wife is always on the lookout for English books but finding it a bit expensive buying second hand. I was saying why don't you try and swap them with others in the same boat instead of keep buying them?

So is anyone interested in setting up some sort of Book Swap? I'm not sure how we could go about it yet, but would like to know if anyone is interested?

So far I'm thinking maybe we could set up an opt in book member group and/or a new board in members only where you can say what books you have to swap. Obviously it won't work for just swapping one book, and we would have to be careful who and where you are meeting.

Shops and charities have to make money, and those ads can be posted in For Sale. But please no suggestions involving money in this thread as the idea is to save money.

Get your thinking caps on if you're interested and post your ideas here.

Thanks.
Fred

As we're not yet living in France we wouldn't be able to participate regularly but when we are there this is something we'd be interested in. We inherited a number of books when we bought our house that I wouldn't mind swapping.

What sort of genre does your wife like?

I have a mixed bag in France but someone recently gave me a set of Donna Leon books that I can bring over next time instead of sending to the local charity shop.

Let me know if you're interested, i could always swap you for a few more rocks!

As this thread is over a year old now and we have a few more members I thought I would give it another try by bumping it up to the top.

Most of the information is in the first post of this thread, but just to recap.

Mrs Fred reads a lot of English Books, and she would like to swap some for other English Books.

No Money Involved, no Depot Vent, No Charity. Just others who also reads English books that would be interested in just Swapping.

If so please post here or contact me, so we can work some way of doing it.

If all else fails if you have any English Books to give away, she would probably be interested in those too.

I don't read myself but it does seem a shame to keep paying €1 - €3 for a book when you could possibly swap it for another.
