The information on here is great and so useful.

There's also the change in regions to consider: goodbye Poitou-Charentes, hello Nouvelle-Aquitaine. I wonder what differences that will bring?

Why can't they leave well alone. Oh well at least they haven't renamed Montmorillon. That would make this forum useless. Big Grin
I prefer Poitou Charente to Nouvelle Aquitaine. It reminds me more of Nouvelle Cuisine.
Ah but Aquitaine is so much more romantic. I've been reading a bit of French history recently and the area now covered by PC, Limousin and Aquitaine were always Aquitaine until... Shall we say until a ' certain foreign power' started to flex its muscles.
Cripes......

We return to France after a month away in Australie visiting number one son to find we live in some fantasy land called Nouvelle Acquitaine.

Whoever thought of this?  Did they put the new name out as a competition in primary schools?  A half-wit could have done better.  The title sounds like a feeble joke. Wall

Why not just call us Acquitaine?  A name with long and noble associations - Eleanor etc etc.

By-the-by where is our administrative centre now?

If someone tells me it's Bordeaux I'll scthream and scthream until I'm thick. Big Grin
