There`is a potential UK tax saving for any readers who are married/cohabiting, where one is a UK tax payer, whilst their partner has an income of less than around £11,000. The saving is up to £432, and can be applied for online. It takes around 4 mins to do, and is EASY.
Happy Christmas !!!
Update.....cohabiting doesn`t count for this tax break.........just marriage/civil partnership.
You can't leave us there Little Al - spill the beans!
Brilliant and totally legitimate ! It is applicable for married/civil partnership couples where one is a standard rate UK taxpayer (ie earns/income is less than £43,000) and their partner pays no UK tax (ie earns less than (approx) £11,000.
"Earning" can mean pension entitlement.
The lower earner is allowed to share their tax exemption with their higher earning partner.....applies for the last tax year and the next one...........claiming up to (approx) £440 in total.
It`s all clearly explained if you Google "Martin Lewis Tax allowance sharing"........and they include all the relevant links for you to click on . The whole process takes 5 mins.......you need NI details of both people, and Passport details (the easiest way to prove identity).
Let me know if it`s helped anyone!!
Have a SOOOOOOOOPAH Christmas. xxx
