Around Montmorillon - GP charges rise

I'm sure you'll be thrilled to know the cost of visiting your GP will rise to €25 by the end of next year. nono

There will be an interim rise to €24 in April with the final rise coming into force in December 2017.

So by the end of next year those of you who hold the Carte Vitale will see your reimbursement rise from €15.10 from the state to €16.50. Mutuelle health top-up insurances, for those that can afford them, will pay out €7.50.

This government scheme will have to be funded through more than £440 million extra in general taxation.

Commentators expect the cost of the private Mutuelle to rise in line with the necessary pay-outs. Sorry. I thought it was already sky-high.

Still, I'm sure it's worth it to know your family doctor can have better and longer holidays AND afford that new Mercedes,Audi,BMW. Whistle

100% is given for long term illnesses and people of low income, so it's always worth asking if you can have it. Wink

Thanks Fred. That's one of those "well, I didn't know that" facts. I've often wondered how some of our friends here in France get 100% reimbursement for their healthcare.

Not moaning, but I can't even get on the bottom rung of the health system and get a Carte Vitale.

Having said that, thankfully neither myself nor Madame Admiral possess a long term illness between us. A small blessing for which we are more than grateful given the "health" of some friends here and in the UK.

Well it may be worth having another look at https://www.ameli.fr/ I thought everyone that lived here could get a Carte Vitale.

I get 100% for having a long term illness and myself and Mrs Fred also get 100% because she is on a low income.

We both get no bills or have to pay for anything upfront. Including:

GP.
Prescriptions.
Dentist.
Optician.
Hearing.
Nurse visits to our house.
Blood tests.
Hospital appointments or stay.
Ambulance.
In fact everything to do with our health.

I would recommend anyone living here to ask, you have nothing to loose and like I said I thought all residents got a Cart Vitale anyway which gives you around 70% discount respective of your income.

Probably easier to go in person, but I'm not sure where the nearest one is in Montmorilon now. I think it moved or you may have to go to Poitiers.

I can't thank the health system enough here. They even gave my Dad another 4 years of life after he came to live with us after the UK saying he had only a couple of months to live.
