Do you all prefer the peace and tranquillity of living in France, or do you find you actually socialise more in France than perhaps you did when living in the UK? I have noticed so far from our visits to France that there is much more of a community spirit, in La Trimouille I can say this for sure. Most people seem to know each other and seem to help each other out, which is lovely.
I do know that the Brits I have spoken to have all said that they would not return to living in the UK and much prefer living in France, warts and all.
We prefer to keep ourselves to ourselves. We are friendly with our neighbours and will always speak and help each other out, but we don't mix socially. It's just the way we prefer life after escaping 0ver 10 years ago, and No we would never return to the UK unless it was absolutely necessary. Our visit this year for a long weekend (our first visit for 9 years) was bad enough. It was so nice to get back to our safe little friendly healthy environment.

But not everyone around here are grumpy old sods like me, there are lots of little community events going on.

We don't particularly socialise over here tbh, not one for drinking, but do like the idea of maybe taking an interest in village life over there in the future. We are more looking forward to the better weather in the summer for sure and the healthier out doors life style. I envy you all who have completely made the move. It's what we are hoping for in the future, but at the moment we have to make a living here. I must admit that when we return home to the UK, after staying in France, we feel the difference massively. It feels so much safer over there.
