HELP!!! I need a skip (or something similar).
Ive had a trawl around the internet and drawn a blank.
There must be something avail in the Monty area.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Sorry can't help on that one, I don't recall seeing any even in the larger towns. (maybe that's why everyone has a little trailer)

If you can get it there you can take all your stuff to your local Déchetterie, they will take anything from you and if you ask your Mayor or neighbour they will tell you your nearest one and opening times.

Maybe someone else knows more about skip hire, but I would say it would be cheaper to hire a van or tipper from Leclerc or SuperU if you don't have transport and do it yourself.
Sorry to rain on your parade Clubby, but I agree with everything Fred said - especially the bit about never having seen one in France. Huh

If you're talking about clearing building/renovation rubbish from the house, then French builders will usually take it away for you.  But only if you ask first.

There are several small firms/one man bands who advertise themselves as carrying out house/barn clearance.  They are obviously English run and if you do go down that route make sure they have factored in their dechetterie costs in the original devi.  If they're a registered business here they have to pay the decehet about €15 a trip.

If they're not registered - don't use them. Whistle

Meanwhile this entire site quivers with excitement at knowing what sort of work you were talking about.

Bonne chance Thumb
Stop your quivering. Here come the details.......
We need two very worm-eaten wooden floors removed and replaced.
Unfortunately,on top of each are tomette tiles (very nice),and six to ten inches of concrete/lime cement (not so nice).
The quote our French builder gave us is probably quite reasonable for the work involved, but nonetheless quite costly too!
We just wondered how feasible it would be to undertake the laboriously back breaking work ourselves.
First stop was going to be the hiring of a skip, but judging by the responses so far (for which we are exceedingly grateful), a rethink may be in order.
Cripes Doh

I have stopped quivering with excitement and am about to lie down in a darkened room in a state of shock and awe.

That is a big job and not one I would even contemplate doing myself because;

I'am an old bloke (or so I tell everyone) and

My main exercise is typing nonsense on here and raising the arm in a Merlot-drinking-style. Whistle

Your French builder probably gave you a perfectly reasonable quote - for France at any rate.  Have you tried Hebras in Montmorillon?  Always found their quotes to be the middle of three and their work is excellent, quick and tidy.

Will PM you.
