Just thought I would share this with you in case you're fed up with your French Bank as I was.

A couple of years ago we got fed up to the teeth with our French Bank and decided to go elsewhere, so we had a look around and decided to give La Banque Postale in Montmorillon a chance as we thought they couldn't be any worse.

Well after being with them for just over two years I can confidently say they are excellent, yes you still pay for an account (this is France after all) but we can not fault them. And last week we was even more happy with them as we had an appointment with Monsieur Yohann PRODHOMME and he has just saved us well over €200 per year on our car and house insurance. Thumb

La Banque Postale have certainly upped there game in my opinion, and Monsieur Prodhomme speaks very good English and is very helpful without being too pushy. Yes he did ask if he could quote for our insurances and I'm glad we said yes, but when he tried to ask about Mobile Phone and I told him he couldn't beat Leclerc at €1.50 a month he said ok we will leave that then.

Smile
Good to know that Fred because I didn't even realise La Poste ran a bank.

I assume it is La Poste calling itself banque Postal and not some imposter.

If my French bank gives me any sort of grief in the future then I'll certainly try your new find.

Having said that, they haven't given me grief other than charging for the privilege of having an account and the cards that go with it. The thing that really annoys myself and Madame Admiral is that you cannot change your PIN number in France. Thumbsdown

Even more annoying, when you ask why not they just say, "because you can't."

Yes it's La Poste we set it up in Montmorillon, it's the same as any bank only the service is much much better. They have even made a note if we need to claim on our insurance by phone to put us through to someone who speaks English, and Monsieur PRODHOMME speaks very good English in the office.

I asked him by the way about the closing of Lathus and he said No it's not closing.

Yes you still pay Thumbsdown but it's less than our old Bank and we have saved a lot on insurance. Thumb

Oh and I've found out I can get a cheque book that opens like one should from the left, so no more torn cheques or no where to write on the stub.
