Anyone seen White Wine Vinegar ?

Auchan Poitiers have it in the Bio section but we forgot to stock up last time, and can't seem to find it anywhere around here.
Sorry about his Fred because this answer is about as much use as a chocolate fireguard but.......CORA in Limoges stock vinaigre d' vin blanc. Trouble is.... it comes with a whacking great sprig of something (tarragon?) floating in it. Or rather, they did six months ago.

And CORA in Limoges is a long way to go for a bottle or two of vinegar.

But there again the shop is right in front of the rather lovely Asian supermarket. So if you want to make a morning of it.............Whistle

Thanks Admiral, have tried that but not suitable for what I need. Mrs Fred has found a White Chardonnay vinegar by Maille in Leclerc, a little expensive but nice. Could still do with a basic one though for the cucumber chutney as white wine vinegar is perfect for the recipe.

Tell me more about the Asian Market as we use a little shop in Poitiers.

The place is called Thoune Asia and is located right brhind the CORA supermarket complex and an inevitable Norauto.

Really easy to find - straight down the RN 147 - take the A20 sign at the second roundabout north of Limoges. Enter ZIN and head for the CORA sign. The shop is behind it.

The place is brilliant in that it stocks everything the lover of Asian food would ever want; spices galore, both fresh and in powder form, Peking duck sauce, black bean sauce, Massaman curry paste, teriyaki sauce, light and dark soya, Thai curry pastes, some Sharwoods and Pataks chutneys/sauces. This list is endless so I won't bore you to death other than to say things like sesame oil are half the price, and much better, than LeClerc or Super U.

The frozen food on offer is incredible - especially stuff like tiger prawns. Take a cool bag with freezer blocks.

Now....it's your turn. I didn't even know there was an Asian foodshop in Poitiers. Where? Any good?

That's been placed on the agenda, thanks.

It's a tiny Asian shop packed full and not much room to move around, but he sells all sorts of spices, sauces, and some very odd looking veg and fishy looking things. Oh and he has Huge bottles of Vimto and Old English Ginger Beer Rolleyes

Come to the first roundabout and turn left for the Hospital. Go past the hospital and the Funeral parlours and at the traffic lights for the inner ring road turn left, keep on the ring road and go past L'Eclerc keep going watch out for the speed cameras, you come to the part with all the Car shops.

When you get to the Peugeot garage on the left and Castorama on the right there is a set of lights. If you turn left you come to Auchan supermarket, but you need to turn right which is the "Avenue du 8 Mai 45. Go down that road and after a small roundabout with a shop selling hydroponics stuff keep an eye out for a small shop on the left with a yellow sign. Parking may be dodgy, but you can usually find somewhere near.

P.S It's closed for the regulation 12 ish to 2 ish!
Thanks Fred.

Defo give it a try next time in Poitiers - which ain't that often as we tend to gravitate toward Limoges because it's nearer.

It's about the same distance to both for us, but I have to go to Poitiers hospital 4 or 5 times a year so it fits in nicely. But I feel a trip to Limoges is in order soon, I take it they have the usual closing times ?

Correct. Forget lunchtime. Instead take yourself off for a nice lunch nearby and let Mrs Fred drive you home after you've been suitably "refreshed."
Been to the Thoune Asia and stocked up. Thumb

Thanks Admiral we hadn't been down that way for a few years, I'm sure Cora wasn't that big when we last visited.

Guess what though?

[sp]I forgot to look for White Wine Vinegar Doh [/sp]
This probably isn't the answer you've been quivering with excitement for Fred, BUT...............I found white wine vinegar in Super U in Montmorillon today. Thumb

Second BUT.....it also has on the label "aromatise' noix."

Just trying to help.
